Drawing Exploration: July 11,18,25 August 1 ( 4 classes) Tuesdays 2pm-3pm
$85/$20 parent add on ( if you would like to enroll in the course with your child we are happy to have a discounted add on for $20 or $5 per class) payable at the desk as you arrive. Available on a per class basis.
Class Description: Drawing Exploration will be a fun, fast-paced introduction to drawing and art. Parents may also join the class and enjoy the exercises. The course is inspired by Mona Brookes' Philosophy that even young children can create sophisticated drawings if the learn the proper techniques.
Children/ Parents will learn to " see" with an artist eye- to identify the way shapes make up each object-and how to make various marks to help their visions come to life. Students will explore drawing animals, still life, flowers and people. The instructors will guide the children through certain exercises- and then provide an opportunity for children to get creative and apply what they've learned to their own images. Supplies will be provided- but if parents would like to provide a kit for their children, we recommend including artist markers, pencils and large sketchbook.
Instructors: Lindsay Peyton is a West Seattle oil painter. She has taught art to children of all ages in private and classroom settings.
Assistant: Sara Watson: is a naturalist who has been drawing since she was little. She is a parent and volunteer at Fairmount Park Elementary School.
