Instructor: Kellsie Steel 

Kellsie Steele joined the summer dance faculty at Cornish College of the Arts in 2014. She has  studied dance for 24 years, performing nationally in jazz, modern, ballet, pointe, tap, lyrical, and hip hop from the age of 3.Kellsie holds a Bachelors degree in Communications and has taught at multiple dance academies in both San Francisco and Seattle.  She was honorary captain of the varsity cheerleading team at Eastside Catholic High School and was captain of both her Dance and Cheerleading team at Saint Mary's College of California. She trained under the direction of Lori Buffalow and Rachel Jackson of the San Francisco 49ers as well as nationally accredited choreographers Greg Russell, Andrew Vacca, and Jeannine Sabo to name just a few. Kellsie has performed nationally at NCAA basketball tournaments, and as a member of the San Francisco 49ers Goldrush professional cheerleading and dance team has had the opportunity to perform in places such as China and Japan. We welcome her to West Seattle Performing Arts faculty for our first term .

Tap 4/5/6 spans 12-18 years and is open to those who have tapped in the past and are at an intermediate or advanced level. Basic rhythmic steps ,combinations and footwork should be well established at this level. Students should have a strong desire to learn. Class will encompass strong locomotion across the floor, traditional footwork and repetition of musical rhythms and musicality. Body percussion and intermediate advanced combinations to a variety of music will also be taught. More complex combinations will be introduced as student’s progress. Different styles will and artistic styles will be taught.

Dress code is loose fitting clothing that easy to move in and tap shoes. Hair back and no jewelry.
